RAMADAN TENT PROJECT
The Qu'ran was revealed to The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in #Ramadan. ‘Revelation’ - our art installation for ‘Open Iftar 2019’ by ‘Ramadan Tent Project’, is made up of all 6,236 verses of the Qur'an. Each verse is suspended over the seating area, inviting the guests to ponder on their meanings.
‘Open Iftar’ sets to bring communities together from all walks of lives during Ramadan, the Muslim month of fasting. It’s accessibility as a third space - the informal, in-between places where different groups mix, has made it a personal highlight of our studio with regular visits over the last few years.
We were delighted to be invited by the founders and our dear friends at ‘Ramadan Tent Project’ to collaborate on enhancing the experience.
Telling stories through Art and Architecture, our approach to this project was to highlight the story of Ramadan, which we saw to be The Noble Quran, revealed to The Prophet in Ramadan itself.
Further informed by Quran ‘being sent down’ our art installation is made up of all the 6,236 verses of the Muslim Holy Book. The English translations of each verse are individually suspended over the seating area, inviting the guests to ponder on the universal meanings of the revelation.
